Recognizing FASD

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the most common birth defect in North America. At an estimated 1% (minimum) of live births, at least 300,000 Canadians have FASD.

You may already have suspected that someone has a problem because of the way they appear and/or by their behaviour, but have been unable to specify the problem previously.

The brain damage that exists because of prenatal exposure to alcohol is a life-long disability. Recognizing the forms it can take will aid you in determining better ways to manage this condition within the justice system.
