MANITOBA - Court of Queen's Bench, Family Division: Northwest Child and Family Services Agency v. C. (L.A.) [1988] M.J. No. 82

FACTS: The agency sought the permanent custody of four children, but the mother opposed the application.  The three older children had been diagnosed with FAS.  Although the issue of FAS was not deemed relevant, the mother's consumption of alcohol remained a concern.

HELD: The three older children were returned to their mother because she had quit drinking and her alcoholism was in remission.  However, the court ordered that the younger child be adopted.
