BRITISH COLUMBIA
Provincial Court

BRITISH COLUMBIA - Provincial Court: R.G. v. A.P. [1999] B.C.J. No. 1655

FACTS:  The two children of Mr. R.G. and Ms A.P. were previously placed in the custody of the province.  The Director now sought continuing custody of the two children.  The father opposed the Director's application and submitted his own application for custody.  The oldest child, S.D.G., suffered from Glossary Link FAS, while the youngest child, J.J.G., suffered from Glossary Link FAE.

HELD:  In light of reports of domestic violence and a history of alcohol abuse, the Director's application was granted and the father's request was dismissed.  The judge concluded that the parents were unable to provide the stable environment required for the well being of their children.
