BRITISH COLUMBIA - Provincial Court: British Columbia (Director of Family and Child Services) v. G.W. [2002] B.C.J. No. 1810 BCPC 309

FACTS:  The Director sought the continuing custody of A.J.M. Similarly, each parent separately applied for custody of the child.  A.J.M. was initially removed from the home because he experienced complications related to Glossary Link FAS and had had a substance abuse problem.

HELD:  Both the mother and father were deemed to be incompetent parents. Additionally, both had failed to demonstrate a desire to improve their parenting skills to better assist with their child's developmental problems. Consequently, the Director's application was allowed.
